Tent maintenance

My tent canvas is still not clean after I have cleaned it. What else can I do?

Always follow the step-by-step plan when cleaning your tent canvas. Each step and each cleaning agent targets a different type of pollution. Take the following steps in order to clean your tent canvas:

• Step 1: First of all, clean the tent with water and followed by the Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo immediately after.
• Step 2: Then clean the tent using the Power Cleaner stain remover.
• Step 3: Impregnate the canvas using the Sprayhood & Tent Protector or the Canvas & Cotton Protector.

How many litres do I need in order to clean and impregnate a cotton tent?

We recommend the following quantities for a normal level of pollution on a standard-sized bungalow tent with a standard-thickness tent canvas.

• 1 x 2,5 litres Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo
• 1 x 1 litre Power Cleaner
• 2 x 5 litres Canvas & Cotton Protector

How many litres do I need in order to clean and impregnate my awning?

We recommend the following quantities for a normal level of pollution on a standard-sized awning with a polyester canvas:

• 1 x 2,5 litres Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo
• 1 x 1 litre Power Cleaner
• 2 x 2,5 litres Sprayhood & Tent Protector

Do I need to impregnate my tent after cleaning it?

Yes. Cleaning products affect the coating of your tent canvas. As a result, your tent is probably no longer waterproof after it has been cleaned. A damp tent canvas attracts dirt and mould faster. We therefore recommend always impregnating the canvas after you have cleaned it in order to restore the protective layer.

Do I need to impregnate the inside of the tent as well?

Yes. The inside of your tent is susceptible to mould and weather stains. and so we also recommend impregnating the inside. This reduces the chance of mould and damage to the coating.

How many litres do I need in order to clean and impregnate my convertible roof?

That depends how dirty your roof is. For a normal level of pollution on a convertible roof that is a few years old, we recommend using the following quantities:

• 1 x 1 litre Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo
• 1 x 1 litre Power Cleaner
• 1 x 2,5 liter Sprayhood & Tent Protector

My convertible roof is not completely clean after I have cleaned it. What else can I do?

Always follow the step-by-step plan when cleaning your convertible roof. Each step and each cleaning agent targets a different type of pollution. Take the following steps in order to clean the fabric roof of your convertible:

• Step 1: First of all, clean the convertible cover with water and followed by the Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo immediately after.
• Step 2: Then clean the convertible cover using the Power Cleaner stain remover.

You can impregnate your convertible roof in just a few simple steps. First of all, make sure your convertible roof is clean.

• Apply a generous amount of Ultramar’s Sprayhood & Tent Protector to the dry roof. Use a sprayer or plant sprayer to ensure you apply it evenly. Alternatively, you could use a brush.
• Also impregnate the inside. Impregnating the inside reduces the chance that mould and weather stains will form on the canvas.
• Using a damp cloth, remove the impregnation agent from the plastic windows and paintwork.
• Leave the convertible cover to dry. Repeat the treatment if necessary.
• Remove any impregnation agent from the windows using the Plastic Window Cleaner & Protector.

How do I clean my convertible roof?

We recommend using Ultramar’s Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo to clean your convertible roof. This cleaning agent is a powerful canvas cleaner and can be used to remove all normal pollution from the convertible cover.

Follow the step-by-step plan below:

• Remove the dirt from the surface using a brush and lukewarm water.
• Then apply the Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo to the wet canvas. If doesn’t matter if this shampoo touches the windows or paintwork of the car. Brush off the dirt thoroughly.
• Leave the shampoo to soak in for 20 minutes in order to allow the dirt to loosen.
• Rinse the shampoo off the canvas and rinse the convertible cover with water in order to remove all of the dirt.
• Allow the roof to dry.

Can I take my convertible through the car wash?

We do not recommend taking your convertible through the car wash. It may damage the canvas of the convertible cover.

Boat maintenance

How many litres do I need in order to clean and impregnate my boat cover?

That depends how dirty your boat cover is. For a normal level of pollution on the boat cover of a sloop that is a few years old, we recommend using the following quantities:

• 1 x 1 litre Sprayhood & Tent Shampoo
• 1 x 1 litre Power Cleaner
• 1 x 2,5 liter Sprayhood & Tent Protector

How do I clean my boat cushions?

Boat cushions are usually made from the same material as your boat cover. You can therefore clean them using the same method

Do I need to impregnate the inside of my boat cover?

Yes. Mould and weather stains often form on the inside of the boat cover, and so we also recommend impregnating the inside. This reduces the chance of mould and damage to the coating.

How can I make the seams of my boat cover waterproof (again)?

All you need to do is fill the stitch hole until it is closed. Take the following steps in order to do that:

• Spray a generous amount of impregnation agent onto the seam using a plant sprayer.
• Rub the impregnation agent into the stitches using a brush, paying extra attention to any holes in the seam.
• Allow the canvas to dry.
• Using some water, test whether the seam is watertight again.
• If the seam is still leaking, repeat the treatment until it is watertight.
